British Airways requires ID Requirements for UK domestic travel

Starting from 1 September 2023, it will be necessary to carry valid photographic identification when embarking on UK domestic flights. This identification will be requested at specific points during your journey. Kindly note that failure to provide this identification could result in being unable to proceed with your travel plans.

While a passport is not mandatory for domestic travel within the UK, it is important to carry a form of photographic ID when flying with BA.

 

Abu Dhabi’s Midfield terminal to open in November

Abu Dhabi Airports has announced that its new terminal at Abu Dhabi International airport will open in ‘early November’ of this year. Known as Midfield Terminal Building during the construction phase, ‘Terminal A’ will cover 742,000 sqm of built-up area.

The airport be “among the largest airport terminals in the world” and will significantly increase Abu Dhabi International airport’s passenger and cargo capacity. Once operational, the new terminal will accommodate up to 45 million passengers per year. It will be able to process 11,000 travellers per hour and operate 79 aircraft at any given time.

Terminal A will feature a range of interconnected biometric systems that will facilitate passage from pre-travel to boarding gate, facilitated by self-service kiosks, streamlined security checkpoints and advanced baggage handling systems.

 

Amtrak orders more Airo trainsets

Amtrak has announced an order for an additional ten Airo trainsets, “as demand for passenger rail travel exceeds expectations”. The US railroad company now has a total of 83 of the Siemens Mobility trainsets on order, with the first set to enter service in 2026.

The new-generation trains will gradually be rolled out across Amtrak’s network, on routes including Northeast Regional, Empire Service, Virginia Services, Keystone Service, Downeaster, Cascades, Maple Leaf, New Haven/Springfield Service, Palmetto, Carolinian, Pennsylvanian, Vermonter, Ethan Allen Express and Adirondack.
